Joyce Meyer - Author, teacher and Christian motivational speaker I admire her first of all for her willingness to share about her own childhood sexual and mental abuse in front of the entire Christian public, the enormous amount of time she has spent writing self-help books, and her ability to communicate through humor in a way that everyone can understand. Whether you agree with her spiritual beliefs or not is insignificant when you look at the obstacles she overcame, her transparency in front of the world about those personal struggles and the story of hope she gives in sharing her triumphs and success. Women preachers have been criticized and scorned, but Joyce broke through those traditional barriers and brought a message of hope that Christian women wanted and needed. BIO about Joyce Meyer
Gerald (Jerry) Jampolsky M.D. a psychiatrist formerly on the faculty of the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco, founded the Center for Attitudinal Healing. I recall having grown-up up in a Jewish family, he had experienced some spiritual moments as a child but by adulthood, he held no beliefs in God. In OUT OF DARKNESS INTO THE LIGHT: A Journey of Inner Healing,he writes "I was sure that anyone who believed in God was intellectually soft, not tuned in to the "real" world. Eventually, He went through a divorce and in spite of having a successful psychiatric practice, drank heavily for years. His life was dramatically changed when he became involved in "A Course in Miracles" which largely inspired his writings. Jerry's writings and life inspire me because they always remind me and give me hope that we CAN change. When his friend Judy urged him to read A Course in Miracles he replied "All right, I'll read one page, but that is all." How amazing that someone with that attitude toward spirituality could became a famous author who eventually founded the Center for Attitudinal Healing. Again, there is proof that there is more to this world than just what we see as only a High Power could make that kind of change in someone's heart and life. He currently lectures and writes with his wife, psychologist Diane Cirincione. His first book, Love is Letting Go of Fear, impacted my life in my early twenties and continues to challenge me to choose love instead of fear to this day. I often have to refer back to these teachings to get myself back on the love track. He has written numerous books which have been inspiring to me on so many levels. Teachings include: |
